Who We Are
Founder & CEO
Basmah Ghauri, MA Global Affairs
An experienced professional with a background in international relations and nonprofit work, I now serve as your impact travel guide! Previously Director of Programs at the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston and Master of Global Affairs student at Rice University, I spent a significant amount of time learning (and interviewing industry leaders) about global challenges. After leaving the Council, I spent time living in the Middle East, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. With a more personal perspective on global needs, I decided to combine the two things I am most passionate about – travel and impact.
I started Sahara International to offer people the opportunity to be “impact travelers.” Not only do Sahara travelers go on a high-end, immersive journey to beautiful new places, they leave a positive impact on every place they visit by directly contributing to local sustainability projects.
